Every election, corruption scandals involving the financing of political parties and election campaign are talked in our country. Nowadays, issues of political system are being worst due to the competitive world. Politicians do what they want for the sake of winning of the said position. Moreover, the increased of public knowledge about the flow of money in politics, makes it easier to detect and do corrupt practices.
A candidate with the most money wins, or only loses when other candidates has almost as much money. These days. Money buys votes to win a politicians running for a said position. The result for this is lack of public trust in the political system. On the positive side, Money gives power, prestige, and privilege. That is why some politicians use money to satisfy their wants.
There is a question that I always heard from anyone. It is right to accept money from politicians during election? Yes or No. Why?
In my opinion, No. Because it is our own money stolen from us. And besides, we do not forcing politicians to give us bribes. Unfortunately, accepting money during election is like buying your dignity and rights as a human. In this case many of us do it.
A reason why people keep on doing this, it is because we need money to satisfy our basic needs like foods, clothes, and etc. It is a source of happiness which we can buy what we want in the money. On the other side, money is the source of corruption and sorrow. We cannot blame only the politicians in increasing of corruption practices because we, as a citizen participated on this during election.
According to George Bernard Shaw “the lack of money is the root of all evil”. In this case, there is truth to this. That is why Filipino keeps on doing wrong to provide their needs. But always bear on your mind that just vote wisely and choose the best one.
Definitely, it is not really proper to accept any amount or goods from the politicians during election time. However we cannot blame those who are eager to open their hands to receive something because it is the only time where they can obtain their needs and wants without releasing any single drop of sweat. That is why, I can say that we must blame ourselves for any deprivation of rights we experience now, the right of having a better living. We must take into account that there is an existing fact in which it says that we are the ones who feed the politicians but sadly we are driven by them to the road of dishonesty and dirty governance. They are in the power to manipulate our government not just because they are in the position but because we did sip their pockets, making it empty, and giving conditions with them. Now, they grab the chance to recover what they have lost during the election days.
With these facts, we can already define the impact of accepting or rejecting an offer from the wanna be elected personalities. The very fact is we all aim for a change but we still let the hanky-panky hands of the politicians covered our own rights. To think, in our own little ways, we can put somebody in a certain position not because of a deal but through using our conscience and exercising or right to choose.
